As of the start of this case study, ThorWorks Industries, the owner of the SealMaster brand, has a licensee in Guadalajara, Mexico. This licensee has the exclusive license to produce SealMaster pavement sealers and distribute its entire line of pavement maintenance products and equipment in two territories in Central Mexico, the Guadalajara territory and the Estado de Mexico territory. The former includes the states of Jalisco, Colima, Michoacan, Aguascalientes, and the northern part of Guanajuato. The latter includes the southern part of Guanajuato, Queretaro, Morales, Estado de Mexico, and D.F. This licensee also has a temporary exclusivity to sell to most airport facilities in Mexico.
SealMaster pavement maintenance products and equipment are also distributed by non-exclusive ThorWorks representatives in a number of other Latin American countries, such a The Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Barbados, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil, not to mention Puerto Rico, which is legally considered part of the US for distribution purposes. Plus, contractors from all over Latin America are purchasing SealMaster products and equipment directly from ThorWorks.
